$10,000 off a 4-ton multi-zone mini-split. Yours for $4,000.
LADWP pays up to $2,500 per ton on top-efficiency ductless systems, double what it pays on a ducted heat pump. No ductwork, a separate temperature in every room, and heating and cooling in one system.

When a mini-split is the right call
Homes with no ductwork
Older LA homes heated by a wall furnace or nothing at all. No ducts to build.
Room additions and converted garages
Add heating and cooling to the new space without touching the main system.
The one room that never gets comfortable
A bonus room over the garage, a sunroom, a back bedroom.
Replacing window units
Quieter, far more efficient, and it heats too.
Whole-home, room by room
A multi-zone system puts an indoor unit in each area, each with its own temperature.
Already have good ducts? A ducted heat pump usually costs less and still qualifies for LADWP's ducted rebate. See heat pump price ranges
Questions people ask
What is a ductless mini-split?
A heat pump without ducts. One outdoor unit connects to one or more indoor units mounted in the rooms. Each indoor unit heats and cools its own space with its own temperature.
Single-zone or multi-zone?
Single-zone is one outdoor unit and one indoor unit, for one room or open area. Multi-zone runs several indoor units off one outdoor unit, so you can cover a whole home room by room.
How much is the LADWP rebate on a mini-split?
$1,500 to $2,500 per ton, depending on efficiency. The top $2,500 tier needs a system rated 20.5 SEER2 and 9.1 HSPF2 or better. You apply with LADWP after install, within 12 months of purchase. Funding is limited, so it isn't guaranteed.
Does a mini-split in an ADU qualify for the LADWP rebate?
No. LADWP excludes ADUs and new construction from the heat pump rebate. Additions and converted rooms in your main home can qualify if the equipment does.
Do I need a permit?
Yes. A mini-split install needs a permit in California, and LADWP requires the final permit to pay the rebate. Permit fees are quoted separately.
Will it keep up in a Valley summer?
Yes, when it is sized for the space. A mini-split cools like a central AC of the same capacity, and inverter units hold temperature steadily instead of cycling on and off.
